The Cardiovascular Department at Watsonville Community Hospital has a commitment to provide a broad continuum of care throughout the community. As a result, Cardiovascular tests/services are available to inpatients, outpatients and ER patients.

Cardiovascular services are delivered on site, in the Nuclear Medicine Department, and Emergency Department. Outpatient Cardiovascular Services are provided by appointment during the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

EKG is performed by Cardiovascular Services staff and specially trained RT, EMT and nursing staff. There is a physician on site or on-call 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Cardiovascular Services include, but are not limited to: EKG/; Holter monitoring; stress testing – including pharmacological and Thallium; Echocardiography – including doppler, color flow, and stress; carotid ultrasound, and peripheral arterial studies.

No test or procedures will be performed unless ordered by a physician or other licensed health care professional permitted to order Cardiovascular Services tests. Orders must be prescribed in writing or a confirmed oral order.

We provide a state of the art Cardiac Cath Lab Suite for nonemergent patients. Services include:

Diagnostic cardiac catheterizations
Diagnostic and therapeutic peripheral angiograms and stenting
Permanent pacemaker placements and generator replacements
Some vascular procedures

To ease anxiety and the overall admission process, all Cardiac Cath Lab patients may go through our PreAdmission Testing Service located in the Ambulatory Surgery/Same Day Surgery area. We encourage our patient(s) to participate. Patient’s get preadmitted, receive a full explanation of what to expect, find out how to be best prepared, can bring a significant other with them and can learn what to do to care for themselves post procedurally. They also realize the importance of having a responsible adult present to drive them home and look out for them the first 24 hours after their procedure.
