Hands on health improvement

The outpatient rehabilitation department at Watsonville Community Hospital is conveniently located close to patient parking in a new, bright and spacious gymnasium. We provide thorough evaluations, individual attention, timely appointments, customized treatment plans, and home exercise programs for a wide variety of conditions, including:
- Musculoskeletal injuries to the back, neck and other joints
- Neurological problems such as stroke, Parkinson’s disease, Multiple Sclerosis, spinal cord injury
- Post-surgical orthopedic rehab – hip, knee and other joint replacement
- Sports injuries
- Arthritic conditions
- Speech, language and feeding disorders

Our goal is for patients to achieve their maximum functional independence through therapy and be provided with education to maintain this or prevent injury in the future.

Physical Therapy

The Physical Therapy staff members are experienced in a wide variety of treatments for children as well as adults. Our department is well equipped with exercise equipment and electrical modalities for pain relief, as well as the capability to provide customized home exercise programs. We believe in a “hands on” approach which integrates manual therapy skills with other forms of treatment. Aquatic Physical Therapy is provided in a nearby therapeutic pool as an adjunct to an individual’s treatment plan.

Occupational Therapy

Occupational Therapy focuses on skills for the job of living. Evaluation and treatment emphasize self-care, pain management, joint protection, use of adaptive equipment, safety awareness, strength and coordination programs and other independent living skills for the home and the workplace.

Speech Therapy

Speech-Language pathology focuses on communication, language and feeding problems and provides evaluation and treatment interventions to improve function and independence in these areas, for children and adults.
