Outpatient Surgery
The Recovery Room and Same Day Surgery provide for all surgical patients requiring Level I and Level II pre- and post-care anesthesia nursing care. Direct patient care is provided by Registered Nurses.
The Same Day Surgery Unit and Recovery Room offers full service nursing care to the surgical patients. Major clinical functions include assessment, evaluation, education and treatment of all patients. To ease anxiety and the overall admission process, all Surgical Services patients may go through our PreAdmission Testing Service located in the Ambulatory Surgery/Same Day Surgery area. While this is a voluntary service to our patients, we encourage our patient(s) to participate. Patient’s get preadmitted, receive a full explanation of what to expect, find out how to be best prepared, can bring a significant other with them and can learn what to do to care for themselves post procedurally. They also realize the importance of having a responsible adult present to drive them home and look out for them the first 24 hours after their procedure.
Ancillary services like lab, imaging or pulmonary studies can also be scheduled with us. We provide preoperative, intraoperative and postoperative care for the following surgical specialties: Eye, General, Gynecology, Orthopaedic, Obstetrics, Spine, Urology and Vascular. Other clinical functions also performed include:
- Pre- and post-invasive procedure assessment, monitoring, and observation for appropriate patients undergoing invasive procedures in Radiology, Cardiac Cath Lab, and Special Procedures.
- Pre-surgical admission assessment, inpatients and outpatients.
- Appropriate pre-operative studies completed.
